150 Days of Psalms - Psalm 98

When I read today's psalm I thought of Easter - Resurrection Sunday. Look how well it fits with Easter.

1 O sing to the LORD a new song, For He has done wonderful things, His right hand and His holy arm have gained the victory for Him. 2 The LORD has made known His salvation; He has revealed His righteousness in the sight of the nations. 3 He has remembered His lovingkindness and His faithfulness to the house of Israel; All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God. 4 Shout joyfully to the LORD, all the earth; Break forth and sing for joy and sing praises. 5 Sing praises to the LORD with the lyre, With the lyre and the sound of melody. 6 With trumpets and the sound of the horn Shout joyfully before the King, the LORD. 7 Let the sea roar and all it contains, The world and those who dwell in it.

Look at these verses
Romans 1:4 NAS

who was declared the Son of God with power by the resurrection from the dead, according to the Spirit of holiness, Jesus Christ our Lord,

Philippians 3:10 NAS

that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death ;

And then we see the promise of the Second Coming!

Psalm 98:8 Let the rivers clap their hands, Let the mountains sing together for joy 9 Before the LORD, for He is coming to judge the earth ; He will judge the world with righteousness And the peoples with equity.

There's a hymn most of my readers don't know called "This Is the Threefold Truth" text by Frred Pratt Green, music by Jack Schrader. It is based on an ancient confession of faith.

It has several verses, but I want to put just the first verse here. (You can see the comlete text here The Threefold Truth )

1 This is the three-fold truth on which our faith depends;

and with this joyful cry worship begins and ends:

Christ has died! Christ is risen!

Christ will come again!

Happy Easter! Feliz Páscoa!

Knowing this, doesn't it just make you want to burst out in song?!

Side note: this is another psalm telling us to use instruments in worship.

Verse 2 is such an powerful verse to me "The Lord hath made known his salvation: his righteousness hath he openly shown in the sight of the heathren." We are to tell others, but beyond that God has put enough evidence in the world to speak of Him, the seas, the rivers, the mountains. It's amazing to me how we can find out quirks in small things in nature, and it's explained away that it just "happened" that way or "evolved." The miracle of all God created should make us more eager to tell of His salvation, of what He has done for us.

I had invited a friend/neighbor to the Passion Play and at the last minute they canceled. out. It made me sad that they wouldn't see such a clear picture of the gospel through the events of the Bible (and what a great way to weave all the examples into the cross - thanks Lyndel!). But overall, I know that it's not me bringing them to one church event that will count as much as me constantly being a friend and witness in their lives. The earth shows the glory of God, may I also be showing Him in my life and actions.
