Happy Valentine's Day

I was doing a little research on Valentine's Day. Some sites suggested that it was from a horribly pagan tradition and that we'll probably end up in a hot place if we celebrate it. Others talk about St. Valentine and how he was a martyr. Here's a nice article about St. Valentine http://www.crosswalk.com/spirituallife/509916/

To me, Valentine's Day is a perfect time to remember the greatest love of all.

The Apostle John had a lot to say about love. Here are a few verses from his letters.

1Jo 3:10 - Show Context
By this the children of God and the children of the devil are obvious: anyone who does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor the one who does not love his brother.
1Jo 3:11 - Show Context
For this is the message which you have heard from the beginning, that we should love one another;
1Jo 3:23 - Show Context
This is His commandment, that we believe in the name of His Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, just as He commanded us.
1Jo 4:10 - Show Context
In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
1Jo 4:17 - Show Context
By this, love is perfected with us, so that we may have confidence in the day of judgment; because as He is, so also are we in this world.
1Jo 5:3 - Show Context
For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments; and His commandments are not burdensome.
2Jo 1:6 - Show Context
And this is love, that we walk according to His commandments. This is the commandment, just as you have heard from the beginning, that you should walk in it.
