The Proverbs Challenge - Day 19

Happy Fathers day

I'm at home, still sick to my stomach and the electricity went off about 8:15, but I still have my trusty iPhone.

Here's the verse I picked for today from Proverbs 19
11 A man's discretion makes him slow to anger, And it is his glory to overlook a transgression.

This is so un-American right now. Half of the news is someone being offended by someone else - usually just by something they said. How much more civil and pleasant would our society be if even just the Christians lived by this verse?

v. 18 Discipline your children while you still have the chance; indulging them destroys them.

I first saw this verse and went "YES!" since we don't have children, I can indulge everyone else's without having to worry about discipline, since that is a parent's duty....

Actually, the verse that came across to me is v.23 "The fear of the LORD leads to life, So that one may sleep satisfied, untouched by evil."

No matter where we are, what we are doing, if we have fear/reverence for God and give him control of our lives, we can sleep satisfied (and there's nothing better than a good night's sleep). At times that I have been really, really in the will of God and have had troubles, I was uncommonly calm and peace-filled. I strive to keep myself in His will.
