The Choir Joins the Symphony

Not joins as in we are all learning to play the violin, but joins as in we're going to sing some songs together!

I just got word today that a couple of the songs that we know as a choir will be on the program Sunday night when the Nashville Praise Symphony plays here! So we'll be singing "Let the Worshippers Arise" and "Our God Saves" as they play.

How cool is that? I love both of these songs!! And with it being a Sunday night we can have the whole choir singing together instead of two halves like on Sunday mornings! Woohoo! I'm all excited about it.

Here's a link to an article on the Leaf Chronicles web news page that tells about the concert. Add a comment and drum up some excitement. http://www.theleafchronicle.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/200910061200/NEIGHBORHOODS01/910060354

Bring someone with you to a great evening - Sunday, 5:00, Hilldale Baptist Church - be there!

Here's another great choir and orchestra combination.

Sunday's Music - Nov. 9 - updated

We'll begin Sunday morning's worship with
Come Christians, Join to Sing - Alleluia! Amen!
followed by
He Reigns (oops, had the wrong song here earlier)

The choir will sing
My Redeemer Lives with Traci singing the solo.

Later in the service we'll sing
Lord, Reign in Me for the welcome

The next set of songs begins with that old gospel song I'd Rather Have Jesus paired with Who Can Satisfy? (which we were going to sing last week, but we cut it to save some time.)

Sunday night the music you'll want to hear will be at Springfield Baptist Church in (duh) Springfield, TN.

At 7:00 the Tennessee Baptist Men's Chorale will be in concert. OOooooooOOooo. They are so good (I know I'm a bit biased. OK, a lot biased. and I'm the President of the Chorale this year - but just until we elect new officers Monday night.)

You realllllly aught to come over and hear us.

I'll be looking for you all Sunday! 9:00 or 10:30 at Hilldale and 7:00 at Springfield.

Clay Crosse in Concert

We have a special concert tonight at the Family Life Center - Clay Crosse will be in concert.

6:30 is the time (our regular fellowship meal will take place at it's regular time)

I know Clay will speak to your heart through music. This is a great time to invite a friend to join you at Hilldale. You'll want to bring a little cash with you because you'll want one of his CDs when you hear him sing!

A GRAND Grand Opening

Wow! What a great day! Worship was great at both locations yesterday. Thanks to Mike Ritter for writing horn charts, rehearsing with brass and singers and directing a great song "He Is Able". And of course thanks to the players and singers. Great work!
The congregation at the main campus (both services) sang out in worship and everyone said worship at our new contemporary service at the Family Life Center went wonderfully and without a hitch.

God is good.

Then... what a great afternoon and evening!

All of our FLC volunteers were ready to go in their cool blue shirts and "tourists" started showing up before 3:00. I'm not very good at guessing or estimating numbers, but I think there were 1, 487 who toured the building. And then there were 2,318 at the concert. Those are estimates, of course.

When I left my house a little before 7:00 am I didn't think to grab my camera, so I apologize for not having pictures of yesterday's events.

Then the big feast at 5:00! Wow! There was food everywhere and grills and desserts and swimming pools full of soft drinks.

Then, of course, the highlight of the evening was Rebecca St. James. She not only sang some of her songs with her awesome band and backup brothers, but she sang several of the songs we sing in worship like "Here I Am to Worship", "Blessed Be Your Name", "Forever" and more. It was a great evening.

I had a nice shady spot over next to the building. I'm a little worried about some who sat out on the hot pavement and fried like bacon.

And did you notice that Rebecca called up to the stage all of the 5 - 20 year olds? I kept waiting for her to say, "OK, now all of you 40-60 year olds, come on up here I've got a great song just for you." Nooooo, it never happened. I was a little disappointed, but I'm over it now. :-)

Since I don't have pictures from last night, here are a few of the inside of the FLC.

Hmmm, I can't find any pictures of the FLC on my computer. They must be in the company files at the office, so I'll show you some pictures of my peonies.

A Prince

Charles Billingsley's concert was wonderful! What a gorgeous voice - incredible. and it was fun! There were a few moments where he was David Letterman (on a nice day) and Adam was Paul. and the fun ways he sang I'll Fly Away was soooo funny.

But the thing that impressed me the most was Charles the person. He was so genuine and kind and worked so well with our sound guys and wasn't your typical "excuse me, I'm a star, you should be very proud to be in the same room with me" type person who is demanding and basically unpleasant to be around. No, he was funny and appreciative and cared about our church and what we are doing.

He was a true "Prince" and I'm very glad he was here.
