A Bow the Knee Billboard Story

I met a couple this morning after the 9:00 worship service. They introduced themselves and then said that they had sung Bow the Knee at their church in Florida a few years ago. They moved to Clarksville last year and are actually members of another church, but they have been visiting our church the last few weeks. They said they saw one of our Bow the Knee billboards and decided to visit our church because of that. I told them that I didn't want to steal them away from their church, but that if they did ever decide to come to Hilldale that we would want them to sing in the choir.

By the way, today is day 11 of our countdown.

Tomorrow we will be sending out via snail mail a rehearsal schedule. We talked about this Saturday about how many of our choir don't get my e-mails. Some don't read the blog. (I know it's hard to believe.) And some only check their e-mail every other Thursday if it isn't raining.

If you have an e-mail/blog challenged friend in choir, make sure he or she knows about our rehearsal tomorrow night at 6:00 in the Sanctuary ( see yesterday's post ) - on stage. See you then!

As Easy As 1 - 2 - 3

A helpful set of information for all participants in Bow the Knee Hilldale's Passion Play 2008 (still on day 17). Non-choir actors need to be here for scenes that they are in. They will recieve that informaion in the mail. Choir members need to be here as often as they can (except the two rehearsals that say "no choir"). I know that life goes on and you have things you must do, but it will help all of us - and you will be better and more comfortable - if you can be here as often as you can.

1. First, you need to know the scenes and songs.

Scenes 1-3 - Opening, Crowd Scenes and Healing - One Day Every Knee Shall Bow, Miracle Man
Scene 4 - In front of the temple - When I Fall Down
Scene 5a - Triumphal Entry - Everybody Sing Hosanna
Scene 5b - Last Supper - Remember Me
Scene 5c - Marcus confronts Anthony
Scene 6 - The Garden - So All Alone
Scenes 6b-8 - Arrest, Pilate's Court, Crucifixion - They Cried Crucify, Alas! and Did My Savior Bleed, Bow the Knee, Surely
Scene 9 - Resurrection - I Will Arise
Scene 10 - The Empty Tomb - Celebrate the Victory
Scene 11 - Heaven - One Day Every Knee Shall Bow

2. Then you need to know the schedule.

Day & Date – Time – Scenes
Wednesday, February 27, 6:30 - recording
Thursday, February 28, 6:00 - scenes 6, 7, 8 (no choir)
7:30 - scene 5b (no choir)
Saturday, March 1, 9:00 - scenes 1, 2, 3, 4
10:00 - scenes 11, 6, 7, 8
Monday, March 3 6:00 - scene 5a,
6:30 - scene 4 (main characters in costume for pictures for newspaper)
7:00 - scene 2
7:30 - scene 9, 10, 11
8:30 - scene 6, 7, 8
Wednesday, March 5 - 6:00 All scenes
Thursday, March 6 - 6:00 Whichever scenes need the most work
Monday, March 10 - 6:00 Whichever scenes need the most work
Wednesday, March 12 - 6:00 Straight run through
Thursday, March 13 - 6:00 Dress Rehearsal
Friday, March 14 - 6:00 call
7:00 - performance
Saturday, March 15 - 6:00 call
7:00 - performance
Sunday, March 16 - lunch right after 10:30 service
2:00 - call
3:00 - performance

Wednesday, March 19 - NO REHEARSAL!

3. Then you need to show up as often as you can.

Easy as 1 -2 -3!

Sunday's Anthem - February 17

Sunday's anthem is One Day Every Knee Shall Bow.

I'm still a bit anxious about missing last Wednesday's rehearsal!!! There are VERY FEW Wednesdays left before Bow the Knee. I'll be looking for EVERYONE in rehearsal next Wednesday night! See you then.

And the Winner Is...

I've added a few new features to our worship blog. The first was a poll. The question was...

What is your favorite song from Bow the Knee?
(I know you all probably thought this was a fancy "hi-tech" deal, but here is a picture of the guy at blogspot counting the votes.)

If this was one of those annoying let's-vote-someone-off reality shows we would have to kcik off Everybody Sing Hosanna. Not that it's a bad song, it just got the fewest votes 1 out of 38 for a dismal 2% of the vote.

Going up from there we had

One Day Every Knee Shall Bow with 6 votes - 15%

Miracle Man with 8 votes - 21%

Bow the Knee had 11 votes for 28%

and the winner is (barely squeeking past Bow the Knee)
I Will Arise with12 votes for a total of 31% of the votes.

I thought it was fun. Look for another poll soon! Thanks to everyone who voted.

BTK Bonus Rehearsal - Feb. 2

Bro. Larry talked about the commercials that offer you something and then say, "But wait! There's more!" Well, I have exciting news for all of you who like those extra items. We're having an extra rehearsal for Bow the Knee! You love Wednesday nights, (we had 74 in rehearsal last week!) and it's always a joy to sing on Sunday mornings, but wait! There's more!
We're having an extra rehearsal - a bonus rehearsal - more rehearsal for your dollar - on Saturday, February 2. And... to make it even more appealing (and to keep from tying up your entire day) we're meeting at 9:00 (with coffee and donuts at 8:38). We'll end by 11:11. This will help us finish up learning Bow the Knee so we can start staging it the next Wednesday. We'll have a sign-up sheet for childcare for those families who need it.
Put Feb. 2 on your calendar and I'll see you then.

Wednesday!

Here we are again, cruising through a Tuesday night. My lovely wife, Cheryl, is already asleep and I've grown bored with computer games, the New Hampshire election results are only interesting for so long, so naturally my thoughts have turned to Wednesday and, YEAH, Choir Rehearsal. I LOVE Wednesdays!

I really love the music in Bow the Knee too. If you missed rehearsal last week I hope you can join us tomorrow to hear this beautiful work.

And not only are the songs beautiful, the script is excellent. It looks at the last week of Jesus' life through the eyes of the Centurion - the one who had such great faith. You can read about him here - the story of the Centurion found in Matthew 8

There is all kinds of interesting information in tomorrow night's Inchoirer so be sure and pick up a copy. I'll post most of that info here on Thursday, but it's just not the same as reading it in person with all of your choir friends at 6:30 Wednesday night.

I'll be looking for you then!
