We had a nice sharing/devotional time tonight when we got back from supper - which was late. Meals here last a long time.
I read from Matthew 9 Read This Chapter
Matthew 9:35-38
Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field."
but the point wasn't the "more laborers" part, but about the Lord of the Harvest. It was very evident today that the Lord of the Harvest has prepared a large harvest here. What an awesome priviledge to be a part of that.
Just a few for instances.
A 77 year old woman on her death bed barely able to speak praying to receive Christ.
Sanitation workers pulling over right next to one of our groups and 3 of the 4 listening to the Gospel then holding hands right there in the street as they all prayed together and recieved Christ as Savior.
A grandmother talking about her problems and how she was a Christian but needed to live better and her daughter telling the interpreter that she wanted to ask Christ into her life.
You can pray to the Lord of the Harvest even though you are not here in Rio.
Pray for us as we try to sleep in beds that we aren't used to with pillows that are not soft.
Pray for us as we go out again tomorrow - especially to know just the right things to say.
Pray for Cheryl that her myasthenia gravis won't prevent her from climbing so many stairs.
Pray for divine appointments - like sanitation workers pulling up right next to us.
Pray for a lady who today said, "I am glad my children and grandchildren go to church, but I don't want to do that now."
Pray for the many who will be saved tomorrow.
