A Good Day - Again

I had to add "again" because I've used the title "A Good Day" before.

So ... yesterday was a good day. We had a BIG choir in both services, the congregation sang well, the choir was great (it was even mentioned to me how well everyone was watching and how they were right with me on cutoffs and all) and then I figured the youth would all be alseep Sunday afternoon after D-now weekend, but we had a big grop in youth choir too and even decided that we are going to sing for the evening worship next Sunday!

I hope you all have a great week. I'll be looking for our adult choir and Wind and Fire Wednesday night! See you then.

Another Great Sunday

Thank you to everyone in the choir and the band and to all the tech crew for another wonderful Sunday morning. We had a great number in choir in both services and you all sang well - even when the words weren't there. I recieved very specific instructions from my lovely wife to always check with her to make sure the words are up before we begin a song. I will do that!

I hope you had an opportunity to visit with some of the missionaries and visit their booths too. It was a good day. Hmmmm, now I need a picture. I hate not having a picture to put with a post. Soooo drab...

There. It doesn't really have anything to do with yeasterday's services or music, but it is of the basketball courts at our new FLC.

Sing to the King

For the choir director. A psalm of the sons of Korah.
Psalm 47 (HCSB) http://hcsb.broadmanholman.com/crossmain.asp
1 Clap your hands, all you peoples; shout to God with a jubilant cry.
2 For the Lord Most High is awe-inspiring, a great King over all the earth.
3 He subdues peoples under us and nations under our feet.
4 He chooses for us our inheritance— the pride of Jacob, whom He loves.• Selah
5 God ascends amid shouts of joy, the Lord, amid the sound of trumpets.
6 Sing praise to God, sing praise; sing praise to our King, sing praise!
7 Sing a song of instruction, for God is King of all the earth.

Sunday's anthem - Sing to the King
See you Sunday! If you've been out of town on Fall break and missed rehearsal but you know the song come sing with us.

Was Lost But Now Is Found

My camera has been lost. I missed taking picture of Elam's first birthday and several other things. You can read about it here. http://papalyndel.blogspot.com/2007/08/things-i-wish-i-had-picture-of.html

But I found my camera yesterday! Woo-hoo! You can read about that here http://papalyndel.blogspot.com/2007/08/good-news-and-bad-news-good-news-is-i.html

Here's the first picture I took with my newly found camera. It's looking through the spindles on my bridge. (These are about the only flowers that have survived the summer.)

Sunday we'll be singing At the Cross and Grace Flows Down during our morning worship services. This of course is a much more important "lost and found". I pray that the words to "Amazing Grace" are real in your life.

I once was lost, but now am found.

Was blind but now I see.

See you Sunday!

Oh, the choir anthem for Sunday is Glory to the King.

God Loves Choirs

I know you think I'm just saying that 'cause this is our Worship Ministry/Music blog and I'm supposed to say things like that... but it's really true! God loves choirs. Here's how I know.
You see a choir first when the Morning Stars sang at creation Job 38:7. (I'm sure there was singing in heaven before that.) The singers in the temple were full-time employees paid like the priests with the tithes and offerings of the people. How cool is that? And of course there is singing going on now around the Lamb's throne where someday we will join in the singing.

In the mean time, what we do here week by week on Sundays is just a great preview of what is to come. For those of you who sing in our choir - THANK YOU! To those just passing through reading blogs - find a choir and join in.

"But I can't sing", you may say. Then sing with the congregation during worship. Those in the pews are our biggest choir. (and there's safety in numbers!) God loves to hear you sing. Just remember Ps 98:4 "Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise."

I'll be looking for you Sunday. Let's make a joyful noise together!

Who Can Satisfy?

Sunday's choir anthem is Who Can Satisfy? Part of what makes this a great song is the music. The keychange is so powerful! and you all sing it so well! but the reason - I think - that we all like the song so much is because of all of the names for Jesus that are part of the chorus.

Part of the reason there are so many names for God and for Jesus in the Bible is because God wants us to know Him. We need to know that when we have lost our way - He is our Shepherd. When we are going through a stormy time of life - He is our Peace and Comfort and Strength. When we are enslaved to sin - He is our Redeemer.

I could go on and on... Do you know Him that well? I hope you do. If not, spend some time in His Word and get to know Him. And of course time in worship and singing in choir ads that much more to our relationship and understanding of who God is.

I'll be looking for you this Sunday as we share with our congregation about our King and Redeemer Who reigns upon the throne!

Sunday's Music

We had a great rehearsal last night. There were 56 in choir counting me and Rusty. That's a great turn out for a hot July night. Thanks for singing with us.

Sunday's anthem - Rock of Ages

Other music will include Victory Song, Shout to the Lord, Blessed Assurance and more! I'm looking forward to a great morning Sunday. See you then!
