More Family Art 2011

If you missed the first post of Family Art Projects, look here First Family Art Post

Here are the rest of the collages made from pictures of The Family Art Project 2011. I hope they will inspire you to create something beautiful this week.

Phyllis has wanted to paint this picture for years. Now she has. Isn't it wonderful?

This one is of each of their favorite Bible stories.

Pretty gray abstract that will look lovely in their living room.

They are going to add coconuts to the tree and put their names on the coconuts.

Pretty stenciling. They had a picture up on FaceBook of it hanging on their living room wall before I got home that day.

Initials of family members (including the cats of course)

Family Art Project - a few pics

We had a wonderful time at the Family Art Project 2011.

Here are three of our beautiful creations. I will put more up next Monday.

My lovely wife and I painted a chocolate background with touches of orange, gold and copper in it and then I painted a blue music staff. We then had each of our grandbabies paint a flower on the staff (instead of musical notes).

Here it is in our living room.

Family Art Project - Coming Again This Year.

It's hard to believe that it was two years ago that we had our first "Family Art Project."
It was a lot of fun. Here are a few pictures from the first one.

 The Muñoz Family

The Hobson Family
The Winn Family

Last summer Bro. Tim asked me, (be sure and use your fancy Sunday morning going to meetin' voice when reading the following conversation.)
"Bro. Lyndel, When are we going to do the Family Art Project again?"
"Well, Bro. Tim, I think we should do it again this winter - perhaps in February."
"I think that's an excellent idea. Put us down to attend."

Cheryl and I plan on having all six grandkids help us with our painting this time around. That should make for a very fun morning!

Here are the details.
Date: February 5
Time: 9:00-11:30
Place: Old Gym - Main Campus
Cost: $45
What: As a family you will paint one large canvas that you later will want to proudly display in your own home. You can see the size in the pictures above.
Wear old clothes and come prepared to try something new and learn a little about yourself and your family through a fun art project.

Contact the church office for more information or to sign up. There is a limited number of spots available. Sign up begins this week!

The Family Art Project - The Rest of the Pictures

This pictures had many changes made to it as the morning went along. It turned out great!

I blogged about Johnny earlier http://hilldaleworship.blogspot.com/2009/03/artist-is-born-johnny.html He had a WONDERFUL time painting.

My lovely wife and I had our painting turn out a lot different than it started. I think the final painting is really cool. Cheryl doesn't really like it. Hahaha.

Names and hand prints were poplar in several of the family paintings. The hand prints give them a very personal touch.

This one is really great. The colors on this one - actually, on all of them - were brighter in person. But you can still see how great all of them were.
Maybe the next time we do one of these events you'll sign up!

The Family Art Project - Pictures part 2

More pictures from "The Family Art Project."

The Tates made a big "T" with their handprints.

I lost track of how many times this picture changed. You can see how the background color was blue at one time.

The Munoz family wanted something that represented their family so they made a big cross and ten each member of the family painted one of the squares around the cross with things they like.

An Artist Is Born - Johnny

The Family Art Project was last Saturday. I'll be posting pictures of it - a few at a time - over the next week. David Brockman came to take pictures. He - as always - did a great job and I have a bunch to share with you.
I want to begin by telling you about Johnny.

Isn't he cute?

Here's a note from his mother (who painted with him).

We had a great time today. Johnny is so excited about his painting. We had to stop at Sam's on the way back to Kentucky, and Johhny got to talking to a lady in line behind us, and he asked her if she wanted to come see his painting he did. She said yes, and followed us out to the truck. He explained everything to her. She said she would like a really little one of his farm paintings, so this evening, he is painting a little picture to send to her. My in-laws also want a little one for their new sunroom. I think you may have created a little painting monster.
I asked her if she cared if I shared her story about him and she replied.

Please do share the story. He sure has been. His Sunday School teacher came up to me after church and asked if Johnny painted something. He was telling everyone. And this morning he woke up and was describing the painting to all his stuffed animals ( the painting is hanging in his room)

Family Art

I'll be putting up some posts about "The Family Art Project" soon. We had a great time and made some beautiful paintings. David came and took photos, so when he has a chance to get them to me then I will share some of them here. These are pictures I took before we got started. You'll be so sad that you didn't join us.

Family Art Project Update

We have room for four more families in our Family Art Project. The only reason for this is because I ordered material from my favorite art supplier http://www.dickblick.com/ and everything came in three days! Very impressive. (If you are interested in ordering art supplies or art books go to my art blog and click on the ads there http://www.bearhollowcreations.blogspot.com/ )

Our Children's Pastor, Tim Muñoz, is so excited about this project that he talked me into letting him advertise it one more Sunday. So I'll order again Monday, but THAT WILL BE IT. If you want to join us it will be on a first come, first served, basis.

Here's a picture of one of the canvases. I put a hymnal (the red book there) there in front of it so you could tell how BIG these are. It's going to be sooooo awesome working on these paintings - as families - and then seeing the finished results.
