2 You forgave the iniquity of Your people; You covered all their sin.
People don't miss this truth. Other religions go about it all wrong. There is nothing YOU - or we or they or anyone - can do to atone for sin. You can't be good enough. You can't sacrifice enough lambs. God is the One who forgives and God is the One who covers sin.
He first covered sin in the garden of Eden when an animal was sacrificed to provide a covering for Adam and Eve. It was ultimately once and for all "the just for the unjust" accomplished when Jesus Christ gave his life on the cross.

What I saw was after the first few verses, where it was asking God to again turn back to His people, to not be angry and to restore them, in verse 7, "Show us your unfailing love, LORD, and grant us your salvation."
God's love is never failing, and the Psalmist understood this. The failing is within us, but God is constant, His love, care, protection. I liked the word picture that was given in church this morning about adoption. There was a book series that I read that really made the point of how God pursues us. I'm glad for God's unfailing love, His constant pursuit of me.
