Here's the verse I picked for today.
Proverbs 20:5
A plan in the heart of a man is like deep water,
But a man of understanding draws it out.
As a pastor, many people over the years have shared their plans and dreams for the future with me. Some have been small plans. Some have been grand plans. Many were plans that that person felt like God had given him. Unfortunately, very few of these people followed through with their plans or dreams. Why?
This verse has part of the answer. Big dreams most often require big effort or more knowledge or perhaps things that haven't even been thought of yet. As we've seen from so many verses in Proverbs, a man of understanding fears the LORD, consults many counselors, seeks wisdom and knowledge and lets God direct his path.
To bring forth a grand plan from your heart you need all of those things. If it was easy, everyone would do it. It actually takes work to gain wisdom, consult counselors and live in fear of the LORD.
What dream has God put in your heart? You can bring that dream out of the deep well. Seek the LORD, consult wise counselors, make plans and let God direct your path.
