Kids Singing Project

 

We have a fun project your child can be a part of (grades 1-5) (well, if you have a 6^th or 7^th grader that really wants to sing, bring them too).

 

Our adult choir is making a CD. Two of the songs need children singing on them. This Sunday afternoon at 2:00 we’re going to learn the two songs and then record them – a one afternoon project. We should be finished before 3:30.

 

The CD has several purposes.

1.      It’s fun to make a CD and get to hear yourself (your choir) singing on it for years to come.

2.      Our church family will enjoy listening to our music, but more importantly

3.      Our CD will be something people can use to tell others about Hilldale and give them a chance to share their testimony.

4.      Proceeds from the sale of this CD will help a mission team going on an international mission trip next summer.

So as you can see, besides being a fun project for a Sunday afternoon, the message and ministry of the CD has the potential to reach many people for Christ for many years to come.

Children in "the Tree"

Our "Special Event" Children's Choir is not only getting ready for the big VBS premier, but we are also working on being wooden soldiers on parade and angels in this year's Living Christmas Tree (which I fondly refer to as "the Tree.")

Our SECC ("Special Event" Children's Choir) meets on Sundays at 1:00 in the choir room. We rehearse until 1:45 or so.

If your child is in our choir here's what he/she will need for "the Tree."

Wooden Soldiers - black pants and a white shirt (preferably button down) We will put a red stripe down the pant legs with red tape. We'll have cool marching band hats and suspenders (ribbon pinned on) to make great looking soldiers. Black shoes are best but we can go with black socks.

Angels - white t-shirts and white shorts to go under the angel costumes. Dark colors show through.

A Winning Start

Last night was our kickoff night for Children's Choirs for this Fall semester. The children are going to be working on a musical titled Race to Win. It has some really fun, upbeat songs, a great story line and teaches how you don't win the race of life by being good enough, but by giving your life to Christ and living for Him.

To help us have a grand kickoff we asked a real-life, genuine (pronounced gin-u-Ine) race car driver to come over with his car and meet the kids.

The kids loved seeing the car and meeting a race car driver.

The bottom had spare parts and all kinds of cool car things that I couldn't tell you about since I don't know what they are, a walky-talky system for the pit crew, a bathroom that even has a shower in it and an office area with sofas and a TV. Cool! Should have taken a picture...

I think I could fit into one of his racing suits. What do you think?

I've seen the movie Cars many, many times (the grand kids love it). The cars in the movie call Lightning McQueen "Stickers" because his headlights are just stickers. Ha! Clay's car just has stickers for headlights too.

When asked what he wanted to name his new baby brother, my oldest grandson said, "Tony Stewart." Who knows... a few years from now there may be little boys answering that question with "Clay Greenfield." Thanks, Clay, for bringing your car to church.

Children's Choirs

Our Children's Choirs begin THIS Sunday at 4:30. It takes a little more effort to be a part of Children's Choir, but it is definitely worth it. Children learn about God and worship and the Bible and relationships and music and more all through Children's Choirs. Click on the ad below for a full-sized version.

Wednesdays, Music and Hilldale

Wednesdays are busy (but fun) days in the worship/music ministry of Hilldale Baptist Church.

At 5:30 our Wind and Fire Instrumental Ensemble rehearses on the platform in the Sanctuary/Worship Center. We've talked about playing on most Sunday mornings suring the first set of songs. Just about everyone liked the idea, so I have music ready for us to look at tonight for this Sunday morning. We'll also work on another offertory to play.

Children's Choir at Kids Choral Connection

Children's Choirs meet at 6:00 on Wednesday nights. We have some directors and helpers in our children's area. They are starting on some VBS music (if I remember correctly). The children meet up in the children's area.

Adult choir members at Christmas Retreat

At 6:30 our adult choir meets in the choir room. We have a few leaving choir to go work at the Family Life Center. They will teach at 10:00 and then worship at 11:00. That means I need a few people to take their places in choir here. If you are in the 11:00 service at the FLC you won't have a choir to sing in.
