Sunday, August 2

The first thing to know about August 2 is that Hilldale's new Sunday morning schedule begins.

8:20 - choir members should be in choir room
8:30 - Worship Service and L.I.F.E. Groups
9:37 - 2nd service choir in choir room
9:45 - Worship Service and L.I.F.E. Groups at both campuses
11:00 - Worship Service at FLC

The second thing to know is that the format of the service will be a little different. Here's the order of worship at the main campus services.

Welcome & Prayer - Bro. Larry

Sing to the King with Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee
My Hope

Prayer - Bro. Lyndel

It Is Well
I Will Rise

Choir Anthem – Revelation Song

Shout to the Lord

Message – Dr. Larry D. Robertson

Invitation – I Surrender All

Offertory – Mary Beth Mathews

Baptism –

Announcements & Closing – Bro. Tony Lewis

We're getting this out early again this week because I have a few more boxes to move from Whites Creek to Clarksville and tomorrow is the day for that.

See you Sunday!

Sopranos Take the Lead

This is a posting of the e-mail I just sent to the choir. If you would like to receive my e-Inchoirer let me know.

Wow!!!
The sopranos earned 220 points last Sunday morning to the altos 130 so they have now taken the lead in our "I Sing, You Sing, We All Sing for Choir" contest! Weeks ago the altos had a lead that made it look like they would breeze across the finish line way ahead of the men and sopranos.

But with some hard work and dedicated attendance, the sopranos now lead by 30 points.
The men are also closing the gap with a score only 70 behind the altos.

So here are the official numbers.

Sopranos - 2310
Altos - 2280
Men - 2210

I hope I'll see all of you tonight in choir. With a good number here tonight, any team could take the lead!

New Schedule

Have we mentioned the new schedule? Or better, I should ask, Have you paid attention to the fact that beginning THIS COMING SUNDAY we have a new schedule at Hilldale?

(We actually had someone call up here last week and complain that we hadn't told anyone about the new schedule.)

You may have noticed on the cover of this month's newsletter and in every bulletin for the last few weeks and announced more than once each of the last few weeks...

WE HAVE A SCHEDULE CHANGE!!

On Sundays

8:30 - we will have a worship service, a children's worship service and LifeGroups (formerly known as Sunday School classes).

9:45 - LifeGroups and worship at the main campus, LifeGroups at the FLC

11:00 - worship at the FLC

On a totally different note...

It was on this date in 1940 that Bugs Bunny made his debut.
If I had known earlier I would have worn one of my many Bugs Bunny ties today. I guess I'll wear one Wednesday to choir.

Ice Cream Contest Update

The sopranos are gaining little by little on the altos once-strong lead. The men are also closing the gap with some nice showings in the last few weeks. The race is really getting close and exciting. We may have to have a photo finish!

With a good number here Sunday any team could jump ahead!

Here are the standings today.

Soprano - 2090

Alto - 2150

Men - 2030

We also want to welcome a new soprano, Diane, and two returning altos, Rochelle and Kathy!

Next Sunday's Order of Worship

I know it is early in the week to be posting Sunday's service, but the rest of my week is going to be rather crazy as my lovely wife and I finally get to move to Clarksville! Trucks and strong men are showing up at our old house in beautiful Whites Creek on Thursday and will deliver everything to our new house - which is also in a very beautiful area out in the countryside of Clarksville and yet only 6.8 miles from Hilldale Baptist Church! (We've been driving over 35 for two years now.) So I can't guarantee any posts after today for the rest of this week.

Our house still hasn't sold, so please pray that someone will buy it. But we did work out a nice arrangement for my son who is moving home to Tennessee to live there as he sells his house in OKC. God's timing is always perfect.

Our new house has turkeys and rabbits and deer in the back. I like the deer now, but figure I will learn to hunt when they eat my hostas, iris and daylilies (which I am bringing with me - and you can never have too many of them if you are thinning yours out. let's talk).

So anyway, here is Sunday morning's service.

Ice Cream Contest - the Real Results

In last night's Inchoirer I had some points listed but I had totally messed them up. The addition was all wrong and I left some things out.

The men had a good showing last night with 17 present! That gives them 170 points (and since they are a little behind I'm giving them credit for a returning member so that's another 50 points for a total of 220! Yeah men! I think that's the first time they have won a Wednesday night.

Last night's points:

Soprano - 120

Alto - 140

Men - 220!

Oh! Speaking of winning. I don't know how he does it, but Mark Black has won a prize THREE nights! He just keeps getting the lucky number.

Without any further ado, here is the actually score as of today.

Soprano - 1780

Alto - 1910

Men - 1700

Great Conference Coming Up

Wow! Where can you find - in one place - exciting ideas, ministry tools, inspiration and great music? The Tennessee Music Ministry Conference.

Where can you hear the TN Baptist Men's Chorale and Ladies Chorale and Keith and Kristyn Getty in concert? The Tennessee Music Ministry Conference.

Who are the Gettys? They are part of the writing team that has brought us such great new hymns and worship songs as In Christ Alone and The Power of the Cross.

Oh! And here's a cool extra treat. On Saturday, our kids who have attended the Kids Choral Connection are invited to join other KKC kids and sing WITH the Gettys for the final worship time!

This conference is for ALL music leaders: Worship Leaders, Adult Choir members and leaders, Youth Choir leaders, Preschool and Children's Choir leaders, Praise Band leaders and members (the Daniel Doss Band will lead this track), Instrumental Music Leaders and Players, Handbell Ringers, Pianists, Worship Tech leaders and operators and Preaching Pastors.

There are better pictures and a much better explanation of the Tennessee Music Ministry Leadership Conference coming up August 14-15 at Brentwood Baptist Church on the TBC web site. Check it out.

The Latest from ESPN

The latest news from ESPN - Essential Singing Partner's Network.

The exciting ice cream contest took a little turn last night as the Sopranos turned out in force for Wednesday night rehearsal. With twenty present they gained considerably on the presumptive winners of the contest - the Altos. The Altos have racked up big points in the past with their large numbers and knack for inviting new members. But last night had many Altos out for various reasons and they garnered a low 120 points compared the the Sopranos' 200.

The Men also had a good showing last night. With the Tenors and Basses each having eight present the Men came in second last night with 160 points.

Bro. Tim gained a scoop of ice cream for his one man team with one invitee in attendance. Rumor has it that five more of his invitees are scheduled to be in attendance next Wednesday night!

Here is a little opera one of the Altos found that she suggested we sing.

With last night's attendance tightening the race it truly is any section's contest to win. Don't forget that double points are possible on Sundays as Ice Cream contestants can sing in both services. Tune in next Monday for the latest results.

Merry Christmas!

We ordered our Christmas music today! Woohoo! A lot of really great music. You'll get to hear a preview of it at our Christmas party in August.

Right now, however, it's "I Sing, You Sing, We All Sing for Choir" contest time. There are more prizes to give away tonight and we'll be working on music to sing for the next few Sundays. Be sure to join us even if you are going to be gone Sunday (since we'll look at music for weeks later).

The altos are ahead right now, but the sopranos gained a little on them last week since they had new members and a lot in attendance. Here's the score as of today.

Sopranos - 1260

Altos - 1470

Men - 1140
See you tonight!!

Set Your Clocks - A Cool Time

I think it's really cool when you get nmbers like this, so set your clock and get up with me tomorrow morning. At 5 minutes and 6 seconds after 4 in the morning the time and date will be

04:05:06 07/08/09

We should have a party or something. (But don't give me a call if you get up.)

Speaking of setting your clocks...

have you heard about our new schedule coming up soon? Beginning the first Sunday in August - hmmm, that would be... let me look it up... August 2.

On August 2 we begin a new Sunday morning schedule.

8:30-9:30 Worship and LifeGroups at the main campus

9:45-10:45 Worship at the main campus and LifeGroups at both campuses

11:00 Worship at the FLC

For those of you out in blog land that go to other churches, LifeGroups are our Sunday School classes. We like the name Life Gropu because it shows how were are involved in each other's lives in more ways than just an hour of Bible study on a Sunday morning.
